چکیده

Following the recognition of four primary colonial types of Leuconostoc mewnteroies by McCleskey et al. (1947), Leiva-Quiros and McCleskey (1947) studied the serological relationships among strains of the four types. They employed glucose-grown cultures for the production of antibodies so the cell antigens could be studied without the complication introduced by the dextran hapten. Several workers have studied the antigenic properties of dextran produced by L. mesenteroides. Zozaya (1932a) found purified dextran to be non-antigenic unless adsorbed on a colloidal carrier. Antigenic relationships between dextran and the capsular material of other species of bacteria have been noted by Zozaya (1932b), Neill et al. (1939, 1941) and by Hehre (1941). Antigenic differences in dextrans produced by different strains of L. mesenteroides were demonstrated by Hehre (1943) with the use of anti-pneumococcal sera. No studies dealing with the effect of dextran on the serological relationships among the four colonial types of of L. me8enteroide8 have been reported. This report is an extension of that of LeivaQuiros and McCleskey but with the difference that sucrose-grown organisms were employed for antibody production.

Complete genome sequence of Leuconostoc mesenteroides subsp. mesenteroides strain J18, isolated from kimchi.

Leuconostoc mesenteroides subsp. mesenteroides is one of the most predominant lactic acid bacterial groups during kimchi fermentation. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of L. mesenteroides subsp. mesenteroides J18, which was isolated from kimchi. The genome of the strain consists of a 1,896,561-bp chromosome and five plasmids.

6-Phosphogluconate dehydrogenase from leuconostoc mesenteroides.

The pathways for degradation of 6-phosphogluconate have been rather clearly defined for several organisms, the most notable of which are yeast (Horecker, 1953), Escherichia coli (Cohen, 1951), Pseudomonas saccharophila (Entner and Doudoroff, 1952; MacGee and Doudoroff, 1954), and Pseudomonas fluorescens (Kovachevich and Wood, 1954). The enzymes from yeast and E. coli appear to be similar, if no...

Characterization of Glucansucrases and Fructansucrases Produced by Wild Strains Leuconostoc Mesenteroides Ure13 and Leuconostoc Mesenteroides Lm17 Grown on Glucose or Fructose Medium as a Sole Carbon Source

A study on the production of soluble and cell wall-bound glucansucrases (GS) and fructansucrases (FS) by Leuconostoc mesenteroides URE13 and L. mesenteroides Lm17 during their growth on media containing sucrose, glucose or fructose as a main carbon source was carried out. The changes in the enzyme activity, the assimilation of sugars and the formation of metabolites during the cultivation were ...

Serologically Reactive Polysaccharides Produced through T H E Action of Bacterial Enzymes* I. Dextran of Leuconostoc Mesenteroides ]~ro~ Sucrose

A preliminary paper (1) reported that a serologically reactive polysaccharide of dextran nature is produced from sucrose through the action of an enzyme or some similar heat-labile agent contained in sterile filtered extracts of Leuconostoc mesenteroides. The object of the present paper is to describe the preparation of the sterile extracts and to compare the chemical and serological properties...
